In the months since last we spoke, the Club has received well more than a dozen new inquires and referrals interested in various types of membership. All have been followed up at this point, again with several very good prospective members.
The following new members were approved at the March and April BOD Meetings:
Young Adult member, Roderick Machado of Riverside. Roderick, his wife Dr. Krystal Machado and 2 ½ year old daughter Avery will be bringing a 22’ O’Day sailboat to the Club.
Active Member, David Oriol of Holden Ma. David and his wife Theresa keep their sailboat in Cover Haven. David is the twin brother of current Active Member Robert (Bob) Oriol.
Active Member, Daniel (Dan) Reed of Cranston. Dan and his wife Kim are parents to Graham, nearly 6yrs, and Agnes, 20 months. Looking forward to seeing Graham learning to sail in the next few years.
Active Member, Dr. William (Bill) Anderson of Pomfret, CT. Bill and his significant other Donna Grant will be bringing a 28' Soling sailboat into the Marina. Welcome to B Dock!!
Social Member, Mark Williams. Mark and his wife Ada are from Warwick.
Social Member, Karen Hames, also of Warwick.
Letters will be going out to our newest members shortly to inform them. There will be another group of applications ready for posting in the next week or two.
Monthly minder about member referrals: Several of our newly approved and prospective members are the direct result of referrals from current members. Any current member (of any class of Membership) who refers someone to the Club that is accepted as either a Social or Young Adult Member will receive a $50 RIYC Gift Card to use towards the purchase of both Beverages and Food. Refer a new Active Member and receive a $100 RIYC Gift Card. Again, what's not great about that~!!! The new Member Sponsor responsibilities do not end there. Sponsors should encourage new Members to participate and get involved in social events, committees and boating activities.
